Half term... yes that time of year again, how has it come round so quickly? Not to fear, there are many things to do to keep the kids occupied and out of mischief this half term which won't cost the earth either! The London borough of Tower Hamlets is full of hidden gems for a fun filled family day out, why not pay a visit? One of the most popular attractions that Tower Hamlets has to offer is the Ragged School Museum on Copperfield Road in Bow, E3. The school was founded by Thomas Barnardo in 1877, where it opened its doors to tens of thousands of children for the next 30 years. The school started up at a time where the East End was disease ridden, poverty and overcrowding was rife and educational opportunities for the poor were nonexistent. This May Half Term offers the opportunity to discover all things fashionable in the 19th century where you will be taking a look at the top trends for men, women and ragged school children during the Victorian era. Extra activities include arts and crafts, face painting, costumes, an Under 5's play area, and the Towpath Cafe will be open for thirsty grown-ups! For dates and more information visit their website.
